Medicaid. Kansas Medicaid's Frail Elderly (FE) waiver is for people 65 and older who meet the nursing facility threshold and qualify for Medicaid. KDADS says it pays for some, but not all, services for people living in an assisted living facility, residential health care facility, home plus, or boarding care home. To apply, start with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). The state Medicaid agency can confirm whether it pays for services in assisted living. Program: HCBS Frail Elderly (FE) Waiver.4 Medicaid does not pay rent or meals in assisted living in any state, and not every community accepts it, so ask each one.
