Thunderbird Senior Living

This was one of the biggest things was the value, the price that is being charged and all the amenities and services he was getting. He gets the Life Alert for free here and all the other places he had to pay for it. The transportation is way better than anywhere else we looked at. I have eaten in the dining room twice and had a pleasant experience and thought it was good. Everything was clean and smelled good in his apartment when I was there. It was nice. We were all pretty impressed for a facility that had been around for 30 years how well everything looked and that there wasn't any bad smells. It was clean and you couldn't tell it had been for 30 years it looked as if it had only been around a few years.

We chose Thunderbird for my mother because I liked that all of the apartments opened to a secluded hallway and the wide range of activities provided. I visited 4 other places, but this was the nicest community and also the most reasonable value wise, plus her apartment is wonderful and just perfect for her. Management is respectful, accessible and responsive, and while I have only eaten with her once during the dining experience, I can say that after visiting other places, this community has such a wide variety to choose from every day and the food I had was very good. Maintenance wise, the building always seems up to shape and when my mom needed help with something, the maintenance crew helped her out. Regarding transportation, the condition of the vehicles, consistency of service and it's flexibility have been satisfactory for her as well. Overall, everybody is very wonderful there. Everyone seems happy and the place is very well kept, so I am very pleased and have already recommended the community.

The variety of the food is pretty good and the activities are wonderful. I am very happy with Valerie and Laurie, the activities directors, and what they do. The building is good and Dusty, the maintenance man, has an assistant. They take care of things. Transportation is great and the drivers are really nice.

My mother-in-law participates in the activities and I've been there a couple of times when activities are going. The ones I've seen are appropriate for the mobility and capacity. I do know sometimes they go out of the activities room and that's good. Overall the Journey section where she lives is in good condition and the furnishings are new. There are no tripping hazards, they know where she is, she is very safe. She cannot wander out on her own, safety is the big concern, and that's all fine. I think the price is very fair. I do believe staff is always pleasant and nice to my mother-in-law and us, and I believe they're always like that. She really likes it there.

I think with the new management team/ownership, Thunderbird has gotten better. Since the new management, maintenance is better. The new management has given maintenance a little more guidance and they're a little more reactive. The new management has allowed maintenance to assist the residents better. They did a lot of work that has improved the facility in general. My mom is pleased with the housekeeping arrangements and she likes having different activities to choose from whether she participates or not. The menu has improved since the prior management and she's pretty happy with that as well.

My father is satisfied with the community. Management is very helpful. The quality of the food is good and the service in the dining room has been good. I have seen the housekeeper come in and she does a good job with the kitchen. Maintenance has been pretty prompt. There was a facuet that was dripping in the kitchen. The next time I visited, it was fixed.

My mother received good care at Thunderbird and I am satisfied with the accommodations that are provided to her. There are a few caregivers who really go out of their way to make my mother feel special and that's important, because in this business the staff becomes part of the family. Housekeeping comes in to do the customary dusting and cleaning of the sink or toilet. They come in consistently every 2 weeks and I'd say they do a good job, including the laundry. Maintenance has been excellent. I have talked to the maintenance man a number of times and he always gets the job done, so everything has been good. Overall, she has been there 5 years so far and I am satisfied with the experience.

It's a nice place with friendly people; it seems to be clean all the time inside and out. My dad is happy there; he likes the staff and definitely feels safe, so that is huge. He enjoys going down to breakfast and dinner, the staff seems very friendly and the food was really good the times I've eaten there. I think they're doing a good job with housekeeping and he speaks highly of the transportation services, there's one lady who takes them to the grocery store and he says she is amazing. She helps them with their groceries; he thinks that's special that she takes that good of care of people.

The activities are pretty good and I think some of the recent remodeling looks nice.

From what I have seen out there they are probably one of the better ones in the valley. The dining has been very good. The wing my mom is in is brand new. She is in Journey's and they just opened it a few years back.
