Morningside House of Ellicott City

The food from dining smells good when I am there during dining hours. I have eaten there a couple times for special functions and it all tasted pretty good. The care staff takes care of issues right away. If I need to approve something they get in touch with me.

The meals look and smell decent and the people seem to like them. From what I've seen it is a good variety. My husband has soup and an entrée and there seems to be a good mix of entrees. I've seen some arts and crafts, musicians and church groups come in. The activities seem pretty good to me. The facility is generally clean. I see the cleaning crew in almost every time I am there. The bed is made up, sheets are changed, and bathroom is cleaned.

The director is very friendly and very approachable. The family members go to the monthly meetings and she seems to stay on top of things. In regards to the activities, they have an activities person that comes to the unit and engages them. The apartment always seems clean. The one housekeeper that I have interacted a lot with is always super friendly and approachable and helpful, as is the maintenance director. The transportation was excellent. The driver was super friendly. I have been pretty happy.

We chose this place for mom based on the overall feel of the environment when we took the tour. The management has been good to work with so far. Mom is pleased with everything in the dining department. There are enough activities going for my mom's needs to be met. The care she has received has been good so far.

Everybody in management is always professional and helpful, my mother is very happy so that tells me a lot. She loves the food, she says it's like restaurant food and it always looks and smells fantastic when I'm over there. The building is very clean and beautiful, it's nice there's new carpet, it's just very lovely. The healthcare staff are always pleasant, friendly, and always working. There seems to be a lot of variety of the activities but my mom is 87 and not interested in doing a whole lot but I'm fine with that because she's extremely happy. She talks to the aides and talks to people downstairs.

I've talked to the executive director and she's been very helpful last time I talked with her. The care staff is very attentive to my sister and her needs. The activities are pretty good. My sister has definitely been participating not only in the activities within the facility but also outside of the facility, which I think is important.

Everyone I've dealt with there is nice, and my mom is satisfied with transportation there. Their policy is they have it two days a week, but many times I need to schedule doctor’s appointments on other days and they have almost always been able to accommodate that. I think the care givers are very good. They clearly care about my mom and the other people there. We checked out all the ratings and chose this place, and we still feel good. I do feel she is safe and comfortable there.

The staff seems to be doing things they say and are on top of things. I don't think she has been healthier. We haven't had any issues with the care. They keep track of her and make sure she is doing what she is supposed to do. It is a good value and good size for her. She has a studio apartment and it is amazing the size of it. We were able to get quite a bit of stuff in there and she still has room to walk around. My mother in law really likes the food. She says it is good. They have some good variety of activities and challenging things they like to do. Her room is always nice and clean. The grounds are always very pretty.

It's been really good and I work in healthcare so I see lots of different things. My mom likes all the activities they're doing, they have good speakers and topics she found interesting, she likes the intellectual stuff that they do which is really a good thing. The healthcare staff tend to her needs, she says it's really nice to know people are coming to check on her to see if she is OK.The maintenance staff came and switched out her blinds within twelve hours, so that was great. Overall, we're all very happy.

My mom's been here almost five years, we haven't really gone out and shopped, we've been pretty happy with everything. I always thought the food and service has been nice, it's very good. I think they've always done a nice job trying to keep everybody busy with different games or karaoke or people coming in with music. She's been on multiple floors since she's been there and I think where she is now, she's got the best caregivers. The two caregivers that are there most of the time work full time and are really really good.
