Lake Barrington Woods

My mother's been there for over three years now, and the food seems to be good there, I know my mom likes it a lot. For feeding the number of people there and the diversity of what they bring to the table it's pretty good. The service in the dining hall is not bad. The managers look like they're certainly doing everything they possibly can, and maintenance seems to be fine. Everything gets pretty well fixed all the time. The caregivers are pretty good, they're pretty responsive. I think there is enough care staff for my mom. I know there are a lot of activities going on, they seem to be fairly decent. The value for what it is, I'm going to say it's pretty good. All factors considered it's expensive, but it's a nice place. She's safe over there and I don’t have to worry about her every day, and she’s comfortable.

I think value-wise it's a little better now because they're renovating, mom's been there a couple of years. I think the management team is pretty good. I don’t have to interact with them very often, but when I do they're very professional. Mom’s very happy with the activities, and the maintenance is good, it all gets taken care of. Right now they're renovating the community, it looks good right now. The Head Nurse has been easy to work with and supportive. I think they provide entertainment, the food is average, and they have improved some physical things.

We're very pleased with everything we're getting. The tour we had with them just really impressed me compared to other places, they were able to answer the questions and the Director sat down and talked with me for about a half hour which I was very impressed by. My parents have been very impressed with the food and the activities calendar is amazing with options. I shopped around several different places and they're just willing to go above and beyond, they've been wonderful with my mom with rehab and getting her moved in afterward, helping my dad when he was by himself, I couldn’t have asked for better, they went above and beyond anything we paid for.

My husband and I just moved, we have a daughter near there. And Lake Barrington Woods has one of the nicest choices for apartments and apartment sizes in the area. And it came recommended. We enjoyed our visits there and Pam, the Sales Manager, was very pleasant and helpful. The management team keeps you well-informed of what's going on. We're in the middle of a big community remodel project and they keep us well-informed of what area work is going on, what work is going on, and how long it should take. Tom, and Pat, the Head of Maintenance, are helping us. Pat is helping us get a landline set up. The outside grounds are very nice. Lake Barrington Woods does a nice job keeping the building clean and making it welcoming. The patio areas are also welcoming. The caregivers are very attentive to my husband. They help me shower him, and situations when I can’t move him, they are there to help. When I'm gone they come and check on him, see if he needs anything. We met with Coco, the Head Nurse yesterday and she went over everything with us. All pleasant to work with and very, very helpful. We’ve pretty much enjoyed what food we've had here, and they have a nice, diverse menu, which is also good. It looks like they have a busy schedule of activities, plenty of things, and they keep the people happy. For the value, it's a good price. We did price another community that was higher cost, but we wouldn’t have had the same services or size apartment. A lot of people know us by name, if they see Ronald alone in the hall they ask if he needs help. The concierge ladies are helpful and always get back us when we have questions. They do a great job taking care of us.

I moved in five years ago, and in that time the management seems pretty good here. I think they have good food and a different menu on different days, the dining is good. The wait staff are really nice. I think the Activities Director does a good job, there's plenty to do and it's fun to do. The housekeeper comes in on Fridays and does a good job. I think maintenance does a good job, they've got plenty to do, and transportation also does a nice job. My sister was here while I was in surgery, stayed here for 8 days. She's always telling me to move there, but after her stay she said, "I don’t think you’ll ever find a place as nice as this here." I'd recommend it to anybody, everybody at Lake Barrington Woods is working all the time and providing things, it's been good.

I had toured this place with my daughter and Pam so I knew this was where I was going to come. I don't think you could have a better manager, I think Mike Ross is fantastic. Mike is wonderful, Pam, Karen and Janet are friendly and helpful, they're all very nice people and willing to answer a question. They have a nice selection of food and I think the activities are very nice, they have bingo games, different presentations, I think they're very good. Maintenance are Johnny on the Spot to get it done right away, Mike does a fantastic job, that man is absolutely wonderful. I don't think you could have a better manager. I made the decision to come here myself and my children are so grateful they didn't have to bring me somewhere kicking and screaming. The people I've seen that have come here because their kids made them, at first they weren't happy but it doesn't take very long, they weren't happy when they first got here but now they're happy.

My parents have been there for ten years, and it's been great. The caregivers are great, really good. They've been really good and just accommodating. Dining is going really well. I know there's a new chef and the residents are happy with what's going on there. The kids that serve in the dining room are great. Activities are well-planned, the front office staff and transportation is great, and maintenance is very efficient and gets things done in a timely manner. I am glad they are re-doing the community. My parents have had a really competent experience there.

My mom has lived at Lake Barrington Woods for 4 years now and it's a good value mostly because of the people. The young people working in the dining hall are so patient with the residents, my mother loves the physical therapist and maintenance has been reassuring, kind and competant. In terms of healthcare, I think it's also going well because they have some lovely people. There is a women named Bloomie and she is lovely, my mother just loves her since she is very attentive and caring. In terms of cargivers, there is this woman named Laurie and when she was in the hospital, Laurie came to visit which was really special. Overall, we've been satisfied.

Both my 86 year old dad and 88 year old aunt are there, and I never have to worry about their safety when I’m on business travel. My dad has been there 15 -16 years, my aunt for about 4. It's very good. It's expensive, but I get full value for the money. The care and nursing staff are spectacular. They’ve succeeded in getting my stubborn aunt to cooperate. Daisy, a caregiver, is amazing, I cannot say enough about her. Coco, the Head of Nursing, she is also terrific. To use a football metaphor, Daisy is a great running back and Coco is a great quarterback. The managers are outstanding. They're very responsive and focused on safety. The dining room is clean, nicely appointed, and the staff is polite. Working with the elderly like that is a calling, and they’re all very kind to the residents. The food is nutritious and the quality looks to be good. They have a very nice and diverse spread of activities that are welcoming and inclusive of the residents. I have a lot of immense respect for the leadership and the staff, whether it's maintenance, housekeeping, or the dining staff, they're all just terrific people. This is not an easy job, it's a real calling, and they treat residents with kindness and have a keen eye towards respecting individuals and focus on safety.

This community is really good. It is priceless to me because I know my mother is taken care of. She forgot to turn her phone on after chemo one time and the staff went and checked on her for me. The servers in the dining room are great at getting her what she wants and needs. If she asks for a hard boiled egg they will get it for her. The activities are great. My mother seems to find a lot of fun things to do at this community. Housekeeping does her laundry and they are very consistent. Transportation was very accommodating while she was using it. She is very happy there and it is helpful to our family.
