Hickory Park

My mom is very happy with the activities. There are plenty of activities and a lot for her to do. Judy, who does the activities, goes out of her way to make the people feel happy and content there. I know my mom takes part in a lot of the activities and she is very satisfied with Judy helping her. She does arts and crafts and plays bingo. She is very helpful to them. Judy goes out of the way to make sure their needs are met. The building looks good. They decorate for the holidays. She had to have plaster on the wall fixed and she told someone about it and they came right away. She is very happy there, overall.

Management is pretty good and the girls are nice there. Everything in the building seems to be kept up, decorated and cleaned properly. They have nice things for everyone to do. I went to a couple of the activities and they're pretty good. When you're stuck there you need the activities really badly and you guys do a pretty good job with that. My friend likes it there.

Management is very friendly and they're always available if we have any questions. They do seem to have a lot of activities for the residents to do, they do a few things outside in summertime, we were just at the holiday party. My parents enjoy their Friday happy hour because they always have music and that's good for them. The girls they have taking care of my mom are absolutely wonderful, they're very good to my mom, they take time with her.

For what we're getting at Hickory Park, it's worth every penny to us and my mother, she just loves the staff. Management is always very responsive and anytime I've had to reach out to ask a question with any of them, they're on it right away, which goes all the way up to the Executive Director. She is pleased with the activity options that the Activity Director provides and she enjoys the Arts & Crafts. Housekeeping services keep things nice and tidy, with maintenance being on top of anything that happens, so they're very good about that too. The healthcare staff is very attentive when she rings her pendant and she loves the aides to death, so it really is a hidden, little gem that people that need to know about because it is different from other places and it's been a blessing for our family. We feel very comfortable and included with all the activities, so they really make it feel like a family environment and it's very appreciated. We're like the biggest cheerleaders for that are in a similar situation looking for a place for their loved ones, so we definitely recommend it. We just really love the place.

My mom likes it there, she loves playing bingo, and she loves the people. She does the church things, and the Friday social hour. In the past two years she’s been there, housekeeping has been good. She's very particular about how her bed is made, it has to be perfect. The apartment is always clean. The building is clean and nice; everything is pretty good with maintenance. I know my mother is doing better than she was, nursing is very good. All in all, she's very comfortable there.

I think that it is a very nice place. They certainly have a sense of family. The people who live here get along well together and are friendly. I think the community itself is very nice. From what my brother-in-law tells me and what I have seen the food looks really nice and he is happy with it. The housekeeping does a good job and he has had nothing but good things to say about them. Everything seems to be running pretty good with maintenance and I haven't seen too many problems. He gets good care for his meds and so forth.

Management seems to be very responsive and they answer my questions. If they don’t know the answer they will try to find it out. This community seems to have a good variety of activities for the residents to do. Housekeeping always seems to be on top of getting his laundry done and making sure his garbage is taken out. The nurses that I have encountered are very intuitive and are very helpful. The caregivers seem to be very responsive and overall my father likes them.

The food has greatly improved since we got a new cook and the service in the dining room is good. The activities were my one reason why I moved here. It has been a real improvement for me because I was really lonely after my husband moved into a nursing home. The girl who does my housekeeping does a fantastic job and I cannot say I have found anything wrong with what she has done. She is a very nice and pleasant person. I have no complaints about the laundry. They just hired a new man for driving the bus. He is very nice. He doesn't just get you there, but he walks you to the door to make sure you are safe. The caregivers do a pretty good job.

In regards to the housekeeping, everything seems to be clean when we walk in. My mother's laundry is done in a timely manner. The grounds are always nice. They just put in a a new walk way and now they have a little table outside with an umbrella that is off on the side for people to sit at. She needed a couple of light bulbs changed and that was done in a timely manner.

My brother had a hard transition to Hickory Park and when he was really having a hard time, management was so understanding, attentive and made sure he connected with me. I feel he is in a safe place, he is healthy and he is thriving, so I would have to say it's worth it. He seems very happy with the food and he always says people are nice to him. When my brother was moving things in, the guy from maintenance was there at my becking call. No matter what we needed, he was there and there was nothing he wouldn't have done to make things more comfortable or work out. Overall, he seems happy with the care staff and I have a cousin that helps out that I know they would definitely recommend Hickory Park, so I would definitely too.
