The Haven at Springwood

I think it is worth it for me to have my mom there. Mom's room is very nice. Every room has a window which I think is nice. They seem to be getting nice meals. The cook encourages residents to let them know things they like and even asked for their recipes if they would like to share them. It feels more like a restaurant. The activities are fun and my mother likes making things and doing the crafts. They have multiple activities a day. I am pleased with the service she receives from housekeeping and maintenance. The caregivers are very consciences, very alert to situations when they start instead of waiting until they become serious. I get calls from them to let me know when mom has been sleeping more than normal and I may want to check on her. They tell me when she has a bad night’s sleep. I am very well kept up with things. They are very loving and affectionate with mom and that is so nice to see. They are treated like family down there. There is a good staff to resident ratio at one to six at night.

The management is very good. They have been very nice and supportive as well especially, the director of nursing Cora. She has been very personable and has taken the time to see my mother when she is in a rehab situation. She talks to my mom and inspires her a bit. Overall, the activities are very good. Not only is her room kept nicely but the lady that does the housekeeping is very nice to my mother and vice versa. It seems like they have kind of a friendly relationship. The laundry is very good. Overall, my mom and I have been pleased with all of the associates that help her. I think they are very helpful and friendly and kind.

For the price I think we are getting the best care because we are paying for the best care. My sister is comfortable and happy there and thinks it is home now. The management staff is very good. They are always very good at helping me out and doing what I ask and things. They know where to get the answer in an instant if they don't know it right off. Everything I have seen is always clean and nice. Very seldom when I go in the bed isn't made or anything is out of place. Everything is clean and nice, bathroom and everything. I have no comments of anything wrong with laundry. They are just great. Whenever we need a light bulb changed I just mention it and it is done. Everything outside and around the place is nice. I have no complaints about the maintenance. The nurses all seem to be on top of everything. I don't know anything else they could do. I know of no wrongdoings or mistakes.

It was a place we could give Mom a better quality of life for a period of time. The management team was helpful and the dining service was good to fix her soup and sandwiches since Mom was a picky eater. She found plenty things to do for entertainment there. The care there was very good. She was the best she had been in five to six years.

My aunt has never said she wanted out of Haven at Springwood, so she must be happy with it. She is putting on weight and when she does take part in activities, she is very well pleased with them. I have never walked into that place where I saw anything out of place whether it'd be dirt, water or anything laying on the floor, so I am satisfied with the consistency of service at the community. From what I see, I don't see things laying around or light bulbs out, so everything that I know about works, which is a plus and when she does use transportation, she is always happy about it, telling me all about it. With regards to her care, I worked at Colonial Manor as a driver where I took patients to Doctor's appointments, so I saw how that went and this is far above that. Overall, it's been a good experience for her.

We're extremely happy with placing my mother there, they've been so friendly, helpful and attentive to each and every resident, and it’s been wonderful. The dining is excellent, I know they make desserts, they have fun making them together, there's always a nice menu on the wall that I see when I go in there, it looks great. I really enjoy the activities they have, they really do a lot for mom, and she’s having fun and interacting with others. She does more now in there than she ever did, she went bowling for the first time ever in her life the other week. She loves the country rides, she loves the bus driver. I thank the healthcare staff all the time for what they do. Her room is perfect for her, it's very safe.

It's a beautiful facility and everything seems to be going pretty good, my mom likes where she's at. The healthcare staff answer the call button in a timely manner, she says they're there within like five minutes. I had Thanksgiving dinner there and I was pretty happy with it, my mom is getting kind of used to the things there and doesn't seem to have any complaints about anything. Everything seems to be going pretty good, she likes where she's at.

My dad moved to this community because I was impressed with the residents themselves and their reaction to being there. They seemed happy and some of them even reached out to me to say this is a nice place. They seemed content and taken care of. It seemed like a friendly place and a place where he would be happy. I think I am getting a good value compared to the other places. I just visited with him this week and it seems like he likes to park himself by the front door. I was a little concerned at first, so I asked the receptionist if he tried to high tail it out. She told me that no they keep a close watch on the residents. I really appreciated that they watched him closely. His needs there are being taken care of. I am not concerned that he will get lost or fall and break something. The food portions are big and good. The food selection seems to be good. The staff has been very accommodating. If I mention to them that my dad isn't supposed to have something, they fix it. They are prompt and friendly. The selection of activities is good. I ask him if he is going to things and people are taking him to some activities. There are appropriate and good activities. When I go to his room it seems clean. It is vacuumed and doesn't smell bad. Someone is doing his laundry and it is put away for him which I appreciate. It is all getting done. He said that he had someone come because there was a problem with his toilet and that was resolved. Maintenance is responsive. The nurse has been attentive to my questions and concerns about his medication, the transfer of his medication and changes in his medication. Whoever is making sure that his daily cleanliness is being attended to is doing a good job. He gets a rash if he isn't washed frequently and it is being done properly. It has all been very good. The residents continue to seem happy and they talk to me and him when we are in the halls. I think that shows that they are well adjusted and being well cared for.

I think the prices at Haven at Springwood are good. It's still cheaper than other places, the community itself is nicer than other places and my mother's apartment is perfect. The front desk is always very nice when I sign in, sign her out or if I need anything. The activities are great, the activity staff is so friendly and they go out of their way to do anything, so they're just the nicest people. My mom goes to devotion every day; she does Bingo and gets her nails done so she participates. Housekeeping is really attentive towards her and they do stuff for her that is unnecessary. The building is beautiful, always well-kept and if you ask maintenance to do something, they do it. Regarding her care, all of the girls are just so kind. They're so attentive and they know when she is out of medications, so everyone there goes out of their way for all of the residents. There is always someone around and if they don't know something, they'll go and find out. Overall, everyone is very nice and the whole atmosphere is very wonderful, so I really have nothing bad to say about the community. She truly loves it there and I think it was the best move for us.

I'm satisfied with the value received at Haven in Springwood. The management is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. She hasn't complained about the housekeeping or laundry. Maintenance and care have both been satisfactory.
