Mansion at Waterford Assisted Living

I think the community has been a good place for my mom over the last three years. Mom is just a homebody who isn’t an outward person to go and take part. From what I see they’ve got lots going on. It's a happy atmosphere, they have music and bingo. Anytime mother has needed something, maintenance takes care of it. The come in and clean every week. They launder her towels and sheets. My mom hasn't complained much, so I would say everything is going well.

Compared to the other communities around, the price seems to be in line. They are doing pretty good in the dining room. They have a lot of activities for us. The activities director works very hard. The maintenance men helped me with some things in a timely manner. I think transportation is very good. They have both a bus and a car and they are both good. The nursing staff is doing pretty good too.

It was really proximity to our house, so we chose to move my mom in. We also liked the elevation and that the building is nice looking. When I walked in to see her the other day, they had a Blackjack time and they had cheese and wine and were betting for chocolate, which was pretty cool. The place was in good shape when they turned it over - new carpet and new paint. There was one of the maintenance guys that helped her hang pictures, which was above and beyond the call of duty. The staff has all been very friendly and nice.

My mother seems happier then she has been in a while. The activities look really good to me when I look at them on the schedule. They take care of the laundry and that is really good. They clean once a week and she is pleased with it too. When I am there I don't notice anything is dirty. It seems that it is very well kept. We noticed that when the last new people, in terms of ownership, came in they painted and replaced carpets. The flowers seem really nice. They post announcements well. If she has any problems in her apartment the maintenance staff responds pretty quickly. There is new management and it seems like thing are going much better.

The Mansion is impeccably maintained and it meets her needs. The management manages the facility well. My mother really enjoys the people that are brought in to entertain. Her birthday is this month and there was a performer brought in for the celebrations, she really enjoyed it. The whole place is spotless. The healthcare staff treats my mother well; I think that speaks well to the nurses and the attendants. She is happy there.

I feel like the price is reasonable. They used to not have any security on the doors at night, but now they do, and I think that was a good move. Tony the bus driver is pretty good. I'm satisfied with him. The vehicles seem to be adequate. They are functional. If you need wheelchair access they can do that and if you have a walker they can take you in the van. It is an older place, but it's been well maintained. The dining staff seems adequate.

When we came we told them that my mother was on a fixed income. They have been very accommodating with my mother’s income. Since Shelly has been there, management has stabilized considerably. She has been very accessible. I can text her at ten o'clock at night and she texts me back. The daytime care staff is exceptional; they are very attentive and very loving. The people are very friendly and really are caring. The people that work the front desk are great. If you asked my mom she would say that she is happy there. I am not moving my mom.

The people who work there and live there are happy and healthy. As far as I can tell the building is maintained well. Everything I see is taken care of and maintained properly. The dining room is clean. They have a large aquarium and fireplace. The bedding gets washed and her clothing gets washed as well. Nothing has gotten lost so far. There are people doing activities. On Sundays they take her to the front area where there is a preacher. They also have a therapy dog. What I like about the place compared to where she was before is that regardless of who it is, I get a “hi, how are you?” and a smile.

I'm very pleased; our experience has been very good there. I like the people there. The management staff is very reasonable in their response time. My wife eats well and never complains about being hungry. I feel good about it. The maintenance staff does a good job of checking issues out and responding to requests. In addition, their responsiveness is good; I've been very pleased with their nursing team. I've never seen them be abusive or mean or anything like that to any residents in Memory Care.
